Find out more about the First International Conference on Petrochemicals and Climate Change
Our Funder
In June 2023, the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation granted funding for the First International Conference on Petrochemicals and Climate Change on the basis of an application that was made by the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, the Department of Technology and Society at Lund University and McGill University in Canada.
Participants
The main audience for the conference is researchers from universities and research institutes, as well as participants from other organisations, such as NGOs, that engage in research or knowledge development relevant to the themes of the conference. The conference will be a meeting place for those who take an interest in the central role that the petrochemical and plastics industries play in contributing to the planetary crises of climate change, global pollution and biodiversity loss.
The cost of the Conference will be of minimal charge to participants. There will be travel scholarships available to a number of participants from Europe, North America and other regions. These scholarships will be dependent on an application in the form of an abstract. Further information about abstract submissions will be released by the end of the year. We aim to attract a total of about 80 participants.
Venue
The conference will be held at Fitzwilliam College in the University of Cambridge, providing a unique environment for conference participants. Talks and discussion will be held in the College auditorium and seminar rooms, while College rooms will be used as lodging for participants, the dining hall for meals, and the garden for breaks and informal conversations.
We are proud to be represented by these institutions and groups in our Conference Committee.
