Dr Mengjiao (Melissa) Wang is a senior scientist with the Greenpeace Research Laboratories at the University of Exeter. An ecotoxicologist by training, Melissa is dedicated to the science-policy-finance interface work to explore synergies and nexus among environmental issues, to address the root causes of environmental challenges, and to guide innovation in a sustainable way to maximize benefits while avoiding more late lessons.
She has been given a unique role as a leading and highly influential sustainability voice to the UN, to lead, shape and influence the global vision, trend and principles of key elements of sustainable development. Being invited by UNEP and other UN agencies to serve on their committees, she has been guiding the development of key UN reports to inform global environmental governance decision making.
Melissa is currently following the establishment of the Global Plastics Treaty, the Science-Policy Panel on chemicals, waste and pollution prevention, and The Global Framework on Chemicals. She welcomes dialogues and collaboration with researchers, policy makers, financial practitioners, and all stakeholders.
